How off-season renting works
It is simpler than a lease and more permanent than a hotel. You take a furnished house for a month or more during the season it would otherwise stand empty, and you pay one number that covers nearly everything.
1.Browse what is open
Every listing shows the monthly rate, the minimum stay, what is included and who the place suits. No prices hidden behind a sign-up.
2.Send an enquiry
Dates, length of stay, and what brings you here. We reply within 1 business day with availability and the full number — nothing is charged to see it.
3.Sign, pay, move in
A written agreement, first month plus a refundable deposit, then keys. The heat is already on and the beds are already made.

The honest version
Port Stanley between Labour Day and Victoria Day is quiet. The patios close, the beach concessions shutter, and the summer crowd disappears until May. Roughly two thousand people live here year-round, so the groceries, the fuel, the post office and a couple of restaurants stay open — but this is not the village you visited in August.
That is precisely the trade. You get a whole furnished house near a Blue Flag beach for less than a serviced apartment in London, in exchange for accepting that half the shops are shut. For most of our tenants — here for a contract, a placement, a renovation or a closing date — that is not a compromise. It is the point.

Questions
What exactly is an off-season rental?
It is a furnished summer property let by the month during the months it would otherwise sit empty. In Port Stanley that runs from roughly Labour Day to Victoria Day. You get the same house a summer visitor pays a weekly premium for, at a monthly rate, because the alternative for the owner is an empty building with the heat on.
How long is the minimum stay?
Thirty nights on most homes. Some owners will take shorter shoulder-season stays in September, October and May — if that is what you need, ask and we will tell you which homes are flexible.
Are utilities included?
On most of our homes, yes — heat, hydro, water and Wi-Fi in one monthly number. Each listing states it plainly under the rates. Where utilities are metered separately it is because the home is large enough that winter heating is genuinely unpredictable, and that is disclosed up front rather than in a footnote.
Is the property furnished?
Completely. Beds made, kitchen stocked with cookware and dishes, towels and linens supplied, Wi-Fi already connected. You should be able to arrive with a suitcase and cook dinner the same night.
Can I bring a pet?
At several of the homes, yes, usually with a pet fee and a conversation about size and breed. Every listing shows its pet policy. Port Stanley beaches also relax their dog rules outside the summer season, which is one of the quiet advantages of renting here in February.
What happens if my dates change?
Tell us as early as you can. Off-season stays are month-to-month by design, and extending is usually straightforward because the calendar behind you is empty. Shortening depends on the notice you can give and on the individual owner.
What is the commute like to St. Thomas or London?
Fifteen minutes to St. Thomas and about thirty-five to London, both on paved road with no meaningful traffic. Highway 401 is roughly twenty minutes north. Winter road maintenance in Central Elgin is good — these are year-round routes for the people who live here.
Is Port Stanley open in the winter?
Partly. Groceries, fuel, the post office, a couple of restaurants and the coffee shops stay open year-round because roughly two thousand people live here regardless of the season. What closes is the summer trade — the patios, the ice cream, the beach concessions. That is the trade you are making, and it is why the rates drop.
What do I need to book?
Send an enquiry from the listing you want. We come back with availability, the total for your dates, and what the owner needs — usually a signed agreement, a deposit and basic references. Nothing is charged until you have seen the numbers in writing.
